The current cycle, 2009-2012 has three main objectives: The Netherlands in the Top10 of elite sports, 2% growth a year of members in sport for all and... Why haven’t we been more successful, as an organisation (NOC*NSF), in relation to this strategic goal. Until now we have only managed to reach this strategic goal during the Summer Olympics in Sydney. Every 4 years NOC*NSF and its 73 members (National Federations) determine a strategic plan including main objectives. This research will concentrate on the question ‘’what is the best organisational structure and governance model for NOC*NSF to reach the strategic goal of a sustainable Top10 position with elite sports in the world?’’ I n the framework of organisational sports in the Netherlands we have a 4 year strategic cycle called the ‘’Sports Agenda’’. For a number of years now NOC*NSF has the strategic goal to be within the Top10 of elite sports in the world in the medal table of both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
